Matt Mead

Cinematographer / Filmmaker
>> WorkInfo <<

I’m Matt Mead — a cinematographer and filmmaker. I’ve shot all around the UK and internationally in Asia, Africa and the US, from studio soundstages to Masai villages, gene sequencing laboratories to a tug boat on the Thames. I began my career as an assistant on indie features and music videos in 2011, before stepping up to DOP working primarily in documentary. I’m happy shooting as a director of photography managing camera / lighting / grip departments, or getting more hands on smaller productions.

As a filmmaker my work has screened at: London Short Film Festival, Aesthetica, Fringe!, GAZE Dublin, and Sheffield DocFest, amongst others. I’ve worked on projects for: Tate Modern, V&A, British Museum, Science Museum, MOMA, Wellcome Trust, Young Vic, Sadlers Wells, Royal Albert Hall, Google, Snapfish and many others.

In 2024 I was selected to be part of the inaugural BBC Films x NFTS Sean Connery Talent Lab as a cinematographer and to be part of the British Society of Cinematographers Mentor scheme. I’ve taught cinematography and storytelling on the Glasgow GMAC Little Pictures program.
